Chris Brown is steadily putting his past behind him. The singer completed his court-ordered community service this past week and is now free to embark on his Between the Sheets tour. "Finished all my community service... BTS TOUR..... Here we come," Brown tweeted on Friday.
Brown was sentenced to 1000 hours of community service in 2013 for violating his probation for the assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. After an initial hiccup in which Breezy was accused of forging a document detailing his hours — upon discovering Brown lied about how many hours he had completed, an angry judge made him start his 1,000 hours over — the singer committed to completing his duty and even earned the court's praise for doing it well.
Despite his progress, the judge would not allow any leniency for Brown. The singer announced in January that he needed to postpone the start of his Between the Sheets tour to complete his final community service hours.
The 25-date, more than five-week tour with Trey Songz and Tyga was set to launch on Tuesday, Jan. 27, but now will be postponed for "a couple weeks" Brown said on Instagram. "The judge would not sign off on my travel to do the tour until I finish these last 100 hours of community service. I will work my a** off to complete it and I will be on that stage."
At the beginning of January, Brown's probation was revoked by a Los Angeles judge for traveling without approval for a concert and failing to complete his 1,000 hours of community service on time. He wrote at the time, "I promise that I am busting my a** doing it everyday until it's complete. This is the most disappointing news I've gotten in a while."
Amid the legal issues, Brown released his most recent albums, X and Fan of a Fan, a special collaboration project with BTS tourmate Tyga.
